Netmonitor A1018s

Although not as comprehensive as the Nokia Netmonitor and Motorola’s eng field options, the A1018s has a net monitor (channel info). You need the following items to enable the netmonitor on an A1018s:

A data cable

Software

Data cable
The hardest problem you will have with constructing a data cable is were to get or how to construct the connector for the A1018s. The schematic itself is quite straightforward:

If you do not want to make the cable yourself, please go to and order the cable for 60 dutch guilders (including tax, excluding transport) or for 40 guilder (including tax, excluding transport)

Software
Click to download the software to enable/disable the netmonitor.

A1018s Netmonitor description
After enabling the netmonitor, you need to set channel <on> in the settings menu. After setting this, the normal display with the operator name has been replaced by the netmonitor screen, in standby mode the screen looks like this:

B861 36 --
   0 - --

  • B861 is the current channel, in this case a 1800MHz channel.
  • 36 indicates the Rx signal strength. The signal strength is given in a figure of 0-63 representing -110dBm  to -47dBm or more *.
  • 0 NIY

When connected the screen looks like this:

T614 33 43
   2 0 02

  • T614 is the current transmit (T=traffic) channel, in this case a 1800MHz channel.
  • 33 indicates the Rx signal strength. The signal strength is given in a figure of 0-63 representing -110dBm  to -47dBm or more *.
  • 43 output power in dBm
  • 2 Time slot
  • 0 Bit error rate (in this case BER = 0%)
  • 02 Time advance, 0 = 0-550m, 1 = 550m to 1100m etc.
