Impressions and conclusions:- The Sagem MC820 is a low cost dual band phone (900/1800MHz) with many features like vibra call and build in hands-free.
- My first impression of this phone was very negative (“jee, what an ugly bastard”). Now I think is one of the most complete phones in its class (paid 59 guilders, incl 50 guilders of calling credit). It is even robust, I dropped it many times and still it works.
- The used Infineon chipset is quite old (80C166 16 bit CISC). Consequently the standby time is quite low.
- It struck me that this French company uses German electronics, even no STM inside besides the serial EEPROM.
- When I opened the phone some electronic waste was falling out::-(
- The menu structure is not very clear, and sometimes strangely translated from French to Dutch (e.g. Klavier i.s.o, Toetsenbord)
- The sim connector sucks
- The programmable keys are useless.
- It is very strange that this phone has a call button and a OK button. Normally these functions are integrated to one button.
