Impressions and conclusions:- The Nokia 5110 is a low cost single band (900MHz) GSM phone. However it contains 2 (!) PCBs, this has a negative effect on the BOM.
- The connector used between the PCB and display is a piece of junk. Nokia is using zebra-strips to connect the display to the PCB. On some 5110s the display is almost faded out. The only way to reverse this is to clean the contacts with alcohol.
The microcontroller (ARM7TDMI) comes in a enormous package. - Many ASICs are used (STM?)
